On the 25th and 26th of February SIR and the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” of UNIMORE – University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, hosted the General Assembly meeting of the European research project AREUS – Automation and Robotics for EUropean Sustainable manufacturing.
AREUS project aims at realizing innovative engineering tools and technologies able to reduce the Energy Consumption and environmental impact of robotic cells and lines, creating the foundation of the factories of the Future, which, following the Industry 4.0 paradigms, will be robotized, safe and clean. The AREUS Project started on the 1st September, will last 36 months with a budget of more than 6.000.000€ from 12 research partners chosen from the most important European Universities and Industrial companies, as DAIMLER, KUKA ROBOTER, DANFOSS , SIEMENS and SIR.
Within the AREUS Project, SIR is developing new engineering methods for the design and management of robotic cells able to reduce the energy Consumption while keeping the same productivity and manufacturing quality. To this purpose, SIR has realized a demonstration cell for the precision assembly of aerospace parts, raising high interest from the partners.
“SIR is famous for its robotic cells, able to perform superior quality manufacturing – says Lino Ferrari General Manager of SIR – with AREUS project we aim at improving their Energy Efficiency to reduce the environmental impact and use costs, assuring then a fast payback time. Specifically, in the AREUS project we are interested to develop engineering solutions which can be applied also to our existing plants, to offer improved profitability”.
